Kell Chess Club's website

A website for our club seems like one of the easiest ways to get information on tournaments out to everyone. I am also hoping that we can get this blog as a link on Kell's website. I believe this will bring new members to our club. I will also try to post a chess problem at least twice a week.

Goals for Chess Club this year will be to get almost everyone to become a USCF member, and to have a minimum of 1000 rating.(I don't think that will be too difficult)How would one start? It is quite easy. I would recommend going to a G/45 championship at the Atlanta Chess Center.(atlantachessclub.com) This tournament has a rating cap usually between u1100 and u1300 so u will be facing players around your level. However you must be a USCF member. If you are older than 15 your membership for one year will be $23 and if you are 15 or younger yours will only cost $17(bi monthly Chess Life magazine) The best part about the G/45 champ. is that it is free entry for first timers.

1 - This blog will be really nice Kevin. You should post a puzzle every week and a short tip, strategy, opening, advice, or whatever, that will help Club members improve their game. Also, you should post a challenge. The first club member to beat you in a game under normal 30-min time-controls will be awarded like $25 or something like that. It'll give people a challenge and an incentive to use this blog for its informational mini-tutorials, puzzles, challenges, etcetera. And it will be fun for you.

Make it $50. You won't lose. That's what I'm going to tell Stefan. $50. haha. (Comment this)

Blacks only defense is 1... Qxd1, yes it loses the queen but being up a queen does not always mean victory. In the real game at the 2005 US open, black was forced to resign. (Comment this)

3 - When I called you from the movie theaters telling you I had figured it out, I thought that black's c8 bishop was on b8, so that 1. Qxf7+ Rxf7, 2. Rc8+ Rf8, 3. R1xf8#. But I didn't have the baord in front of me.
